Pamper Yourself at These DFW-Area Spas

During Spa Week, participating Dallas-area spas offer services for reduced prices—it’s kind of like Christmas.

You might argue that spa treatments are an extravagant indulgence. Spa Week, which runs April 21-27, aims to prove otherwise. During those precious seven days, participating spas offer massages, pedicures, facials and other treatments for only $50. To help you work a little necessary pampering into your life, we visited three of the participating Dallas venues and sampled a variety of treatments. We’re only here to help, after all.

Grand Spa

Steam some stress away at Grand Spa (Courtesy Grand Spa)

It’s not unusual to see well-heeled men and women coming and going from this Village on the Parkway mainstay. The expansive menu of services touches on everything from basic beauty upkeep to indulgent full-day treatments, and the atmosphere is so sumptuous and welcoming that it’s kind of a struggle to take off your fluffy robe and re-enter reality.

What We Tried: After dawdling in the elegantly appointed changing rooms—which feature private showers and an array of high-end beauty products to help put yourself back together after your appointment—we got into the right mindset for a Spring Fever Massage in the tranquil waiting room. Kerry, our licensed massage therapist, was attentive to pesky sore spots while using organic honeydew body lotion to help melt away stress.

Beautiful Faces

Dr. Vu Ho may be revered for his board-certified plastic surgery skills, but his knowledge also extends to skin treatments that don’t require going under the knife. He’s made the face and neck his area of expertise, and as such is the go-to guy for microdermabrasion, dermal fillers and photofacials.

What We Tried: Similar to microdermabrasion, the SilkPeel combines non-invasive exfoliation with deep delivery of solutions directly to the skin. There was no downtime—we went on a lunch break—and didn’t notice any irritation or flaking in the days following. Communication with our aesthetician flowed freely during the treatment, so there was never any uncertainty about our pores. Pores, which by the way, practically disappeared into smooth, hydrated, bright skin.

After more than 100 years, Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spas is the undisputed grand dame of beauty and relaxation. Behind that signature scarlet door awaits a plethora of decadent services for skin and nail care, makeup artistry, hair design and massage.

What We Tried: When is a pedicure not just a pedicure? When it includes a long list of luxurious extras like sugar exfoliation, warm cream massage, a soothing aromatherapy neck pillow and a moisture-sealing paraffin treatment. A few shiny coats of Essie nail polish to finish things off, and we couldn’t wait for sandal season.
