Kat Armstrong had her first emotional “I’m having a boy!” moment over a bow tie she received as a gift at her baby shower. When she opened that gift, she had the realization that she was going to be responsible for raising a little gentleman. He quickly outgrew that first bow tie and when Kat tired to find a replacement for her growing boy, she came up empty-handed.
Any fashion-loving mom will tell you that shopping for your son can be soul-sucking. Your choices for fashionable dressing are limited. So she did what any practical modern-day Southern belle would do: she started her own business to create and manufacture affordable and stylish accessories for little boys.
In its first year of business, Baby Bow Tie has partnered with Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom to design collections exclusive to each store, with many upcoming partnerships intending to do the same. The company has recently launched its newest line, Baby Bow Tie for Pets, providing fashionable bow ties for four-legged “kids.”
“As a working wife and mom, I understand that sometimes the littlest things can make the biggest difference in our hectic lives. Baby Bow Tie was born out of that feeling,” says creator Kat Armstrong. “Inspired by my own little gentleman, I set out to create affordable, high quality accessories for littles without compromising on style. I believe a sense of fun is key to making the most of this precious time.”
With over 100 styles, ranging from Aztec prints to arrows to classic plaid to seersucker, there is a Baby Bow Tie to stylize all babies, toddlers, kids and pets.
Each bow tie is 4 inches, perfect for newborn-8 years. The strap is adjustable and all ties features a magnetic closure, so putting this on your bouncy bundle of boy joy is easy. Baby Bow Ties are available online at Neiman Marcus, Nordstorm or BabyBowTie.com. You can also find them at Indigo 1745, Abi Ferrin, A Tiny Hiney Baby Boutique and Posh Petunia.
