Visitors, we hope that you brought an extra piece of luggage. You’re going to need it. The Fashion Outlets of Chicago, a 530,000-square-foot megaplex with sister locations in Niagara Falls, Las Vegas and Santa Fe, is now open in Rosemont, a Chicago suburb just five miles from O’Hare and about 30 minutes from downtown (sans traffic). To shoppers with label affinity and challenged budgets, there’s a brand name—and price point—for everyone.
Expected and Unexpected
Alongside the haute (Tory Burch Outlet, Prada, Herve Leger, Gucci) find mainstream retailers such as Gap, Guess, J. Crew and Kenneth Cole, plus anchor stores such as Neiman Marcus Last Call, Bloomingdale’s the Outlet Store and Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th. While the aforementioned can fill a closet with fall staples, we’re just as excited about some of the lesser-known standalone stores: Original Penguin (for its tailored, hipster polos) and Allsaints (an edgy London-based clothier for men and women).
Complete the Look
It’s no secret that outlet shoppers are just as hungry for accessories, from sneakers to “it” bags. Snag kicks for the whole family at Nike Outlet, Converse, Skechers and Crocs. Obsessed with finding the next great tote, hobo or crossbody? Scour Coach, Michael Kors and Cole Haan. Oh, and just in case you couldn’t rein in the spending and forgot an extra suitcase, there’s a Samsonite, and the outlets will gladly deliver your goodie bag to O’Hare (along with the rest of your luggage) for a fee to avoid check-in hassles.
More perks: The Fashion Outlets of Chicago offers a special concierge service to print boarding passes and check luggage before flight departure. Shoppers can also pay to ride Go Airport Express shuttles to and from the airport.
Yes, nodding heads, yes.
