San Telmo

Located south of Plaza de Mayo, this is one of the few neighborhoods in the city that still has late colonial and Rosista buildings—mostly renovated in the 20th century. This atmospheric barrio dates back to the 17th century, its cobblestones streets with many cafés, antique shops and little art galleries. Over its history it became known as a multicultural, immigrant area which attracted artists, taking on a bohemian atmosphere.
