Wadsworth Athenaeum Museum of Art

Since 1842. Connecticut’s premier art museum—known for its experimentation and history—boasts extensive holdings that cover the Renaissance and baroque periods, French and American Impressionism, American decorative art, costume and textiles, contemporary art, and more. It was the first American museum to acquire works by Caravaggio, Miró, Piet, Mondrian and Balthus. Admission: $5-10. Open W-F 11 am-5 pm, Sa-Su 10 am-5 pm.
