A Guide to South Boston Shopping

Southie is known for its bars rather than for retail options, but shopping in this neighborhood is on the rise.

Not to be confused with the South End, South Boston (aka Southie) is a rough-and-tumble neighborhood with rich community, Irish American roots and true grit set among lovely harbor views and peaceful parks. This is one of the country's most historic areas, but that doesn’t stop the young trendy set from calling it home. For a little local flare, hit up a few neighborhood boutiques for a shopping adventure Southie-style.

Southie’s Own

When in an Irish neighborhood, buy something Irish. You’ll find original imports from the Emerald Isle like knit sweaters, scally caps, wooden products and emblems at this family-owned shop. Southie's Own also serves Irish tea and freshly baked bread all day, so sláinte.

It’s time to break the “thou shall not covet” rule. High-end designers you’re sure to spot in covetable arrangement of consignment items at Covet—Prada, 3.1 Phillip Lim and Marc Jacobs. A table showcases baubles and bags, and you might even discover a pair of red soles on the shoe wall.
