Freedom Trail attraction. One of Boston’s oldest surviving buildings, this structure was built in 1712 and was built on property that was at one time owned by religious activist Anne Hutchinson. In the mid-18th century, it was a bustling literary center and publishing house for writers like Longfellow, Emerson, Hawthorne, Holmes, Stowe and Dickens. This building is not open to the public.
