Not to be confused with the South End, South Boston (aka Southie) is a rough-and-tumble neighborhood with rich community, Irish American roots and true grit set among lovely harbor views and peaceful parks. This is one of the country's most historic areas, but that doesn’t stop the young trendy set from calling it home. For a little local flare, hit up a few neighborhood boutiques for a shopping adventure Southie-style.

Southie’s Own

When in an Irish neighborhood, buy something Irish. You’ll find original imports from the Emerald Isle like knit sweaters, scally caps, wooden products and emblems at this family-owned shop. Southie's Own also serves Irish tea and freshly baked bread all day, so sláinte.

Covet

It’s time to break the “thou shall not covet” rule. High-end designers you’re sure to spot in covetable arrangement of consignment items at Covet—Prada, 3.1 Phillip Lim and Marc Jacobs. A table showcases baubles and bags, and you might even discover a pair of red soles on the shoe wall.

Neatly Nested

Neatly Nested houses fabulous vintage home décor. There are mason jar soy candles, fun typography cloth napkins, hand-sketched note cards, travel clocks and more. Whether it’s an old timey suitcase or a small mosaic accent, your home will thank you for all the inspiration.

Think organic layette lines and upscale brands like Mayoral, Deux par Deux, Primigi and Eliane et Lena. There’s also a small assortment of strollers and gear, toys, books and games.

Ku De Ta

Trendsetting never looked so flashy—hot pink walls, glitzy chandeliers, a ceiling draped in bubblegum-colored fabric. Ku De Ta is where you find tomorrow’s fashion. True Religion denim and Joe’s Jeans keep you casual, while über-girly brands like Lucca Couture and Aryn K dress you up. From fun clutches to dainty jewelry, this boutique is for the fashion-forward.

American Provisions

With parks aplenty in Southie, there’s no better place for a picnic. Have the experts at this “general store” market pack up a gorgeous basket of goodies. American Provisions have gourmet foodstuffs galore—organic meats, charcuterie, homemade condiments and farmstead cheeses.
