Pfaueninsel (Peacock Island)

The landscape architect who designed the Tiergarten park, Peter Joseph Lenné, also created the grounds of the Pfaueninsel, a small island in the Wannsee lake. A two-hour walk takes visitors along the green pathways of this peacock-inhabited island, passing a romantic castle with a neo-medieval façade, bridges, wells, an aviary and various neo-Gothic and Greek-inspired structures. Castle: Open Apr–Oct 10am–5pm Tue–Sun. €3/2.50.
