The site often referred to as the "Holocaust Memorial" is a stark reminder of the atrocities of war. (© Jenna Rose Robbins)
Berlin’s tribute to the victims of the Holocaust is as big as a soccer field and consists of 2711 tombstone-like slabs of equal size and varying heights placed on an uneven ground to convey a sense of claustrophobia and disorientation. The underground information center provides a timeline of Jewish persecution. A free app and the areas complimentary Wi-Fi allow you to experience a virtual concert that was performed in the memorial in 2008. Accessible 24 hours a day. Free.
