Being Burton

He brought us Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Corpse Bride, worlds of fantasy, reverie and brilliant artistic creation. A magnificent exhibition devoted to Tim Burton – director, artist, creator and filmmaker – is currently being played out at the Cinémathèque Française. Drawings, photographs, figurines and objects that make up Burton’s artistic world, creative environment and intimate dreams are all being showcased. The visitor will discover his first drawings made when he was an art student in California, work from his time at Disney and the continued creativity of this artist who brought us the legendary films into which the spectator escapes into a world created within a context of total freedom. The exhibition also provides a fine opportunity to see all of his films. The Museum of Modern Art in New York designed the exhibition in 2009 and Paris will be the only European city to host it.
