Located on the smart Carrer Montcada, the museum occupies five restored town houses. Inside are more than 4,000 works in its permanent collection, including many of Picasso's important early works. These show his close relationship to Barcelona and how he wished to leave a firm imprint on the city. There is a section devoted to his ceramics, a few canvasses from the Rose and Blue periods, and important studies based on Velázquez’s series of paintings, Las Meninas. Open Tue-Sun 9am-7pm; Thurs 9am-9.30pm. Adult €14 (collection & temporary exhibition); conc €7.50; under 18 free.
