Sandy Springs

Incorporated in December 2005, this is the eighth-largest city in the state. Named for actual sandy springs that still exist, the affluent town is home to a fantastic Anne Frank exhibit (one of only three in the world); several Fortune 500 companies (UPS and Rubbermaid); a major medical center anchored by Northside Hospital, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Saint Joseph’s Hospital; Perimeter Center, including the “King and Queen” office towers (pictured); and eight consulates (China, Colombia, the Czech Republic, Israel, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Spain and Thailand). The heart of the neighborhood is Heritage Green, a four-acre park that offers concerts, events, shady gardens and the Williams-Payne House, a historic 1869 farmhouse.
