Atlanta Ballet's Traditional 'Nutcracker' Is Newly Reimagined. Don't Miss It.

Atlanta Ballet's famous piece undergoes a major rework for the 2018 season. Here's what we know and how to get tickets.

A synonymous part of the Atlanta holiday season, the Atlanta Ballet’s annual show, “The Nutcracker,” in 2018 will see big changes for the first time in 20 years. This new version of the show is titled “The Nutcracker for The Next Generation,” and returns to its roots of E.T.A. Hoffman's original “The Nutcracker and Mouse King.”

Hosted at the Fox Theatre, the production will feature Yuri Possokhov's world-class choreography, set designs by Tony Award nominee Tom Pye, projection design by Tony Award winner Finn Ross, costume design by Sandra Woodall and lighting design by David Finn.

Your first chance to catch this new performance is Saturday, Dec. 8th, 2018, during the opening night gala. Following the opening night gala, there will be an open bar, late-night bites and dancing with Atlanta Ballet dancers available at the official after-party "The Nutcracker Act II."

The show runs through the holiday season with the last showing a daytime matinee on Christmas Eve. Tickets start around $35.
