Fitness Tips From a Pro

Ah, the New Year’s workout resolution. We’ve all tried them, but unfortunately, most of us fail by the middle of the month. We turned to Jeff Baird of Chaos Conditioning for tips on getting in shape and sticking to a workout. His first tip? Set realistic, attainable and incremental goals. Here’s more:

Tip 1: Take some high-intensity, interval-based classes. Most people can’t get where they want to be all by themselves. Skip the generic classes included in a regular gym membership and find a boutique-style, interval-based fitness studio that allows you to buy packages of classes.

Tip 2: Cut back on the carbs. It’s a common misconception that consuming fat makes you fat. Fat is actually a great energy source, but only in the context of a low-carb diet. By reducing your carb intake, your body will burn fat when it needs some energy.

Tip 3: Buy a TRX Suspension Trainer. If I could only train with one piece of equipment for the rest of my life, it would be a TRX Suspension Trainer (I have no affiliation, by the way). They aren’t cheap, but it is literally the most versatile fitness tool ever created.
