Concierge D'Andre L. Evans' Tips for Atlanta Visitors

The Marriott Marquis Atlanta concierge shares his must-visit stops around Atlanta.

D'Andre L. Evans is a concierge at the Marriott Marquis Atlanta. He shares his favorite spots for breakfast, cocktails, books and city tours.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. What's your favorite breakfast spot in town?

Whenever I have company in town, I always make time to treat them to a delicious breakfast. My go-to breakfast spot would have to be Le Petit Marche over in Kirkwood. This "little market" has humble beginnings, and you can taste the love and passion that it took to make this neighborhood favorite the success it is in every bite. Whether you decide to build your own breakfast sandwich or you settle for a lighter option such as the Best Oatmeal Ever, you're guaranteed to leave happy and full.

Where's your favorite bar for an adults-only night out?

Look no further than The Lawrence, home of some of my favorite bartenders in all of Atlanta. It boasts a bar that looks like it came out of a scene from Harry Potter, which is fitting considering the bartenders are wizards when it comes to conjuring up creative craft cocktails. So grab a babysitter and kiss the kids goodnight!

Where is a great coffee shop for college students to study?

It's imperative to have a nice comfortable environment to hit the books or meet for group projects in peace. Downtown, in the midst of Georgia State's "campus," you will find Ebrik Coffee Room. Ebrik's baristas are very warm and welcoming. Even more importantly, they make a magnificent mocha frappe. Ebrik has plenty of room to get comfortable with your cup of joe and homework. No need to worry about fighting for a position next to outlets to charge your laptops and phone; there's plenty of outlets and complimentary WiFi.

Where is your favorite local bookstore?

To be honest, I am a creature of habit. Once I find something that's reliable and works for me, I run with it. Since moving to Downtown Atlanta, that's exactly what Barnes & Noble has been for me—reliable. They literally have something for everyone. My favorite location is the one located in the Edgewood Retail District, located just south of Little 5 Points. I couldn't tell you how many times I've dropped in to grab a clutch last-minute gift! Also, their in-house Starbucks is a great place to sit with a latte and get a head start on a recently purchased book. Their store in Midtown, located off of Fifth Street, has the best Georgia Tech gear around, too.

What would you like to tell visitors about your hotel?

As far as the magnificent Marquis goes, stop in and enjoy dinner at our fire-inspired steakhouse Sear (get the crab cake; you can thank me later). Afterward, relax with a beer or glass of wine at Pulse, while you watch the Atlanta Falcons get a win on our ginormous TV monitor.

What is your favorite Atlanta tour?

I have two tours that I love and equally, recommend to guests. First is the Peachtree Trolley. Their staff is very knowledgeable and the trolley is super comfortable, perfect for the 90-minute tour they provide. ATL-Cruzers Segway Tour is a great way to spend a beautiful day in Atlanta. Zip around on your Segway while your tour guides give you a grand introduction to our city
