University of Alaska Museum of the North

Alaska's most distinctive architectural landmark, with exhibition galleries covering 2,000 years of Alaskan art, from ancient ivory carvings to 20th century paintings, and offering extensive displays of Alaska natural history and wildlife, including Blue Babe, a 36,000-year-old steppe bison mummy. Open year-round on the University of Alaska campus—open daily (9 am-7 pm) during summer season (Jun-Aug); open Mo-Sat (9 am-5 pm) during fall/winter season (Sep-May).
