Touring Alaska by Riverboat: The Discovery

From Fairbanks, chug up the Chena River with stops to explore an Indian village, Iditarod sled dogs skills and a bush pilot demonstration

Four generations of the Binkley family have piloted this popular visitor and local attraction. The Discovery sternwheelers cruise the Chena River to its confluence with the Tanana River, with stops to see Iditarod sled dogs in action, a bush pilot demonstration and tour of an Athabascan Indian village, led by local Native Alaska guides. This is a trip everyone enjoys and the 3-hour cruise leaves twice daily from May to mid-September.
