Boerner Botanical Gardens

Come spring, these gardens 15 miles southwest of Milwaukee are a breathtaking respite from the city. Encompassing 1,000 acres, the English country manor-styled grounds are abloom with 50 acres of formal gardens, an impressive (one of the nation’s largest) ornamental crab-apple tree collection and 500 rose varieties. Sculpture art includes an installation by Susan Falkman, a local stone artist. Guided tours are offered; gardens closed late November-early April.
