Portland Entertainment+Nightlife: Mactarnahan’s Taproom
Mactarnahan’s Taproom
This huge brewery in the Guild’s Lake Industrial District at the edge of Northwest Portland shows off its 140-barrel copper brewing vessels by making them a part of its brewpub’s interior design. The kettles are from the Sixenbrau Brewery, dating back to the 16th century in Bavaria. Added to this Teutonic touch are fancy steins and a menu of seafood, schnitzel, sausage, and other grilled meats cooked on an applewood rotisserie and grill. A covered patio is open for dining during the winter. As for the brew, the line includes its gold-medal winning Amber Ale—the first amber ale in Oregon—as well as a well-edited collection of porters, Belgian-style ales, and seasonal brews.
