Made famous in a Nathaniel Hawthorne novel, the Turner-Ingersoll Mansion on Salem Harbor was built in 1668 and is the oldest surviving wooden mansion in New England. Architecture, maritime history and literature come to life here. Discover the residence’s secret staircase. Continuous guided tours. Admission: $7.50-12.50, free under age 5. November to June, open daily 10 am-5 pm. July to October, open daily 10 am-7 pm.
