Chicago Museums+Attractions: Carter G. Woodson Regional Library
Carter G. Woodson Regional Library
One of the city’s three regional libraries, the Woodson branch houses the Midwest’s largest collection of Afro-American history and literature, as well as a children's library and media center. It’s named for Dr. Carter G. Woodson who, in 1926, proposed the first "Negro History Week," which grew into the present-day African American History Month held each February.
