Graue Mill and Museum

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places and once a stop on the Underground Railroad, the Graue Mill houses the only operating waterwheel gristmill in Illinois. Opened by German immigrant Frederick Graue in 1852, the wheel was used to grind grain for 70 years. It now offers a look at the past and the impact mills like this one had on society of the late 19th century. Also see artifacts of the time and demonstrations of the wheel at work. Admission $3.50; children $1.50.
