Famed as the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, this masterpiece of English baroque architecture is set in 2,100 acres of Capability Brown parkland and formal gardens, plus magnificent state rooms with three centuries of treasures. 4-6 May: Jousting Tournament Featuring ‘The Knights Of Royal England’. Brave knights battle it out on full regalia against the mighty backdrop of the Palace. which also plays host to falconry displays and archery. Palace open daily 10.30am-5.30pm (last admission 4.45pm); gardens open 10am ‘til dusk; park open 9am ‘til dusk. Adult £21 (park & gardens only £12); conc £16.50 (£9); child £11.50 (£6.30). Tickets inc unlimited admission for 12 months.
